My First Rant!

I have never done a blog post before so you’ll have to be not too judgemental of this.

Right. I have finally started watching the BNP question time (late I know) and am frankly sickened by the way that the panel and the audience members have acted on the show, so much so I had to stop watching. Ok, Straw said a few valid points but it is so over the top and unjust and ok, I do not agree with the ideas of the party but the show just hounds in on certain issues to play to the fickle audience that cheers ecstatically at every friggin’ opportunity. Certain questions which would actually allow Nick Griffin to explain his party (which I feel should have been the idea of the show as I think that the BBC is supposed to show an impartial view to political parties) are clearly avoided by the host as they may actually show that the party may not be so one dimensional and actually have some views that are not related about race (although, I know that they are essentially one issue party). The panel is so smug and most of their views are not worthy in my opinion as they are just SO one sided and ridiculously emotionally charged in how both the panel and the audience speak. You can tell what most of the audience are obviously there to give Mr Griffin a hard time and not actually trying to find out more about the party and give him a reasonable chance to justify himself.
Also, they mentioned the Enoch Powell ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech several times throughout the show. Now; I may be hated for this but if you actually read a bit more of it beyond the famous quotation, he actually had some good points. You could not have uncontrolled immigration, no matter what background people have. Its not logistically possible and its not possible based on the fact that we are a small island with a small land mass that can not increase (except maybe if we go to war but we haven’t won the last few that we were in so what thinks that that would result in a british victory?). Not all the points in the speech are correct but it should not be demonized and ignored just because its not too friendly to that all mighty concept of multi-culturalism.
I love the fact that the word Fascist is used so much by people in the show with racist connotations. The fact is fascism is not automatically racist as many seem to think. And to be honest, so what if the party is fascist? They aren’t going to get in anyway and surely in a liberal democracy such as ours, all political ideologies should be represented in the form of parties (not that all the ideas are practically or favoured by me).

Some people may be shocked by my view of this as it does not go with the common (if you pardon my sarcasm) ‘wisdom’ espoused by the mainstream media concerning the question time that a lot of people unfortunately blindly follow. I’m not afraid to go against the trend and I feel that if issues such as these are not discussed properly, we as a country may see a rise in these ‘extremist’ parties getting more and more support and no one really wants that do they?

Challenge me on this if you wish but don’t simply be abusive. I know that I don’t know every single aspect of the issues concerned in this rant so it may be slightly flawed. Don’t simply swear at me though as thats not a very big thing to do is it?
